Govt says Faiz Hameed was part of Imran-led scheme
The federal government accused PTI founder Imran Khan on Saturday of masterminding a political conspiracy to cause chaos and disharmony in the nation along with the retired general and his “co-conspirators”.
Just days after distancing himself from the former spymaster, Imran Khan gave the idea to confirm rumours that he was close with the retired general, asserting that the latter’s transfer to the Peshawar corps was a part of the plot to overthrow the PTI government.
The information minister, Attaullah Tarar, stated during a press conference that the army has carried out transparent investigations following the arrest of General Faiz Hameed based on their internal accountability system. He further added, “Imran Khan had formed a political alliance with Gen. Faiz to create chaos throughout the nation, and the inquiry will be done against this in the near future.”.
“No matter if someone is Saqib or Nisar, case will proceed evidently.” He referred to former CJP Saqib Nisar, whom the PML-N accused of supporting the PTI.
Tarar said evidence has emerged indicating that the PTI founder was “in contact” with these collaborators both during and after the vote of no confidence and that he was still exchanging messages with this “unholy political alliance.”
He emphasized, giving the army’s example, that self-accountability should be done by other institutions as well.
