Zuckerberg Admits Biden Censorship Pressure
In a turn of events on Tuesday, Mark Zuckerberg had admitted that the Biden administration demand of censoring Facebook content, which they consider “COVID misinformation” during epidemic was “wrong.”
In a letter to the House Judiciary Committee, the Meta CEO acknowledged that the company had previously also “demoted” news regarding Hunter Biden’s laptop and vow to fight back against such censorship tactics in the future.
He added, the White House had “expressed a lot of frustration with our teams when we didn’t agree” and “repeatedly pressured us for months to censor certain COVID-19 content, including humor and wit”.
Zuckerberg said he regret his decision for not taking any action and stated that Biden administration pressure “was wrong.” The Meta CEO said the company has formed new policies to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
However, the White House defended its approach saying, “Our stance is clear and consistent. We believe tech businesses and other private actors should consider the consequences of their actions on the American people while making choices about the information they display.”
