Actor Nazish Jahangir pre-arrest bail plea dismissed
A Lahore sessions court on Friday dismissed actor Nazish Jahangir petition for interim bail after she failed to appear in court. The petition stemmed from an FIR accusing her of fraud, which was filed by fellow actor Aswad Haroon.
The FIR, filed under Section 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code, alleged that Jahangir, who knew Haroon through the entertainment industry, borrowed his car and Rs2.5 million for a two-month project however, she failed to return either the car or the money.
Haroon further claimed that Jahangir asked him to arranged a meeting with him at a farmhouse to return the car’s documents but did not come herself.
Instead, she sent a man named Sikandar Khan who threatened him with weapons, warned him not to contact Jahangir again.
Haroon requested the police to ensure his safety and recover his belongings.
In response, Jahangir filed a pre-arrest bail petition, with petition stating that the FIR was filed with “ill intentions ” to humiliate and harass her, and the arrest would cause her public humiliation.
On Friday, the court rejected Jahangir’s bail-appeal due to non-prosecution stating that despite repetitive calls no representative of her appeared before the court.
Jahangir and Haroon starred in the 2023 telefilm Aatish-e-Ishq, alongside Saba Faisal.
