Afghanistan should fix its own domestic issues instead of lecturing others: FO
On Monday, Pakistan dismissed a statement from the Afghanistan foreign ministry concerning the country’s political situation, urging the Afghan Interim Government (AIG) to concentrate on addressing its own internal issues rather than commenting on a democratic nation.
In response to the unrest that followed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters’ march toward the federal capital, a spokesperson for Afghanistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs remarked that tensions were escalating between the government and opposition party workers in Pakistan, which could have a detrimental impact on the entire region.
Criticizing the Afghan ministry’s remarks as “frivolous,” foreign office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch in her statement label them as “unacceptable” and “deplorable” interference in Pakistan’s domestic matters.
“Rather than lecturing a democratic nation, the AIG should prioritize addressing its own issues, fostering inclusivity, and responding to the needs and aspirations of its own people, including the right to education for women and girls, instead of restricting their rights,” she asserted.
The spokesperson further highlighted that the AIG must meet its promises to the international community by denying refuge to terror groups that pose a severe threat to peace and security in neighboring countries, and by ensuring that Afghanistan does not revert to becoming a hub of global terrorism.
Baloch reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peace, dialogue, and regional cooperation, expecting all nations, including Afghanistan, to observe the fundamental principles of responsible international conduct and inter-state relations.
It is important to note that law and order have been restored in the federal capital following days of unrest related to the PTI protest.
