Asian Champions Trophy: Pakistan defeats Japan 2-1
On Wednesday, Pakistan achieved their first win in the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy by defeating Japan 2-1 at the Moqi Hockey Training Base in Hulunbuir City, Inner Mongolia, China.
Nadeem Ahmed scored the opening goal in the first quarter, but Japan equalized in the second quarter.
The team regained the lead thanks to a goal from Sufyan Khan in the 10th minute of the second quarter, which ultimately secured the victory.
Prior to this match, Pakistan had drawn their first two games.
Pakistan ended in a 2-2 tie against South Korea after initially leading by two goals. Despite goals from Hanan Shahid in the fourth quarter briefly put Pakistan ahead, South Korea managed to score again and equalize.
In their match against Malaysia, it also finished with a 2-2 draw.
Pakistan’s upcoming fixtures include matches against China on September 12 and India on September 14.
