Biden, Harris to meet US negotiating team on Gaza ceasefire deal
The White House on Monday said that President Joe Biden will meet with US negotiators to discuss a hostage-release agreement in the Israel-Gaza war. This change in proceedings comes after six hostages, including an American citizen, died in Gaza.
It is reported by AFP that Biden’s official schedule was changed to accommodate the White House meeting, in which Vice President Kamala Harris will also be present, who is contesting to succeed Biden in November’s presidential election,
Following the death of US citizen Hersh Goldberg-Polin and five other hostages by Hamas on Saturday, Biden and Harris will meet on Monday “with the US hostage deal negotiating team and discuss efforts to drive towards a deal that secures the release of the remaining hostages,” according to a statement announcing Biden’s revised schedule.

A countrywide strike in Israel is set to start today to aimed at increasing pressure on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s administration to secure the release of the remaining hostages.
Advocates and families of the hostages have called for a ceasefire, accusing Netanyahu’s government of making insufficient efforts to save the lives of those still held captive.
