Champions Trophy 2025: ICC satisfied over preparations
International Cricket Council (ICC) delegation visited Pakistan on Friday and expressed satisfaction with the ongoing preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, scheduled for next February, APP reported.
As per the drafted schedule of Champions trophy, India is set to play all its matches in Lahore.
However, ongoing political tensions have prevented the Indian and Pakistani cricket teams from facing each other in bilateral series.
A massive budget of Rs12.80 billion was allocated by government in July for the renovation of Gaddafi Stadium, National Stadium, and Pindi Cricket Stadium.
Additionally, the approval for purchasing a 5.8-kanal plot near the Gaddafi Stadium has been finalized for the construction of a hotel, intended to accomodate international and domestic teams during their professional activities.
Discussions regarding security arrangements for the tournament was also held during meeting.
The ICC delegation included Sarah Edgar, Aun Muhammad Zaidi, Wasim Khan, David Musker, and Mansoor Manj, while Usman Wahla, Khalid Mehmood, and Salma Mesud represented the PCB.
The ICC officials expressed contentment with the preparations in Karachi and Rawalpindi, as well as the security measures in place in both cities and Islamabad.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi assured the ICC representatives that the arrangements for the Champions Trophy would meet world-class standards. He noted that stadium renovations would be finished well before the tournament and emphasized the commitment to ensuring the safety of all participating teams.
“Post-renovation, the stadiums will feature international-level facilities, enhancing the overall experience for spectators,” APP reported.
