Gandapur warns PTI won’t tolerate Imran Khan military trial
The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leadership on Sunday called for the immediate release of the party’s imprisoned founder, Imran Khan, pledging they would not stand Imran Khan’s military trial.
“If Imran Khan is not released in two weeks, we will go to get him released,” Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur told participants of the PTI public meeting in Sangjani.
He threatened if Mr. Khan was not freed PTI “verbal struggle” will change into a “bloody struggle”.
In addition, he warned to file lawsuits against opponents in his province declaring, “I will file cases against you now that we have total control over the KP government.”
“According to Khan lawyers, all of Imran’s cases have been decided in his favor, and he must be released immediately. We will go to jail to secure his release if he isn’t released right away,” he stated.
While addressing the military establishment, the CM KPK proclaimed that not even they could stop him from ensuring the release of Imran Khan.
CM Gandapur responded to Defence Minister Khawaja Asif statement that Imran Khan might be put on trial by military force due to his role in the May 9 violence, saying, “Even your father, or those you consider your father, cannot stop us from getting Imran Khan released.”
He asserted that retired Lt-Gen Faiz Hameed, the previous head of the ISI, had not been given to the PTI “in their dowry” and those should be held accountable for his actions who placed him head of the spy organization.
“If you don’t keep your house in order, we’ll take care of the military.” It is our institutions where our brothers are fighting on the borders, he continued.
“I will reveal to everyone that May 9 was a pretext to attack Imran Khan,” the KP CM said while vowing that he would make the information public during next meeting in Lahore.
According to him, the PTI will not tolerate any injustice or excesses and would take appropriate action asserting, “We will hit anyone who hits us.”
Additionally, Gandapur informed the jalsa participants that they will soon get a summons to make a “bloody sacrifice” in order to obtain what he called “true freedom.”
