The interior ministry accused the PTI of spreading “anti-state propaganda,” leading to the detention of PTI spokesperson Raoof Hasan by the Islamabad police on Monday.

The initial accusation made by PTI founder Imran Khan’s attorney, Ali Ijaz Buttar, was that Hasan and PTI’s Barrister Gohar Ali Khan had been “arrested by the Islamabad police from the party’s office.”

“I have been notified by the party’s office that between 300 and 400 police officers have come to the [party’s] office and have taken PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar and Information Secretary Raoof Hasan into custody,” Buttar posted on the X platform.

Along with criticizing the action, the party attacked the Islamabad police on its official X account. While reposting Buttar’s message, the party stated, “It’s absolutely shameful how Islamabad Police continues to completely mock and disregard every law in this country.” Pakistan is ruled by the law of the jungle!

Several police cars and a few police officers can be seen outside the party’s central secretariat in another video that the party posted on the X platform.

Afterward, Hasan’s arrest was verified by a statement released by the interior ministry.

In response to the preliminary investigation and digital content, the Islamabad police and Federal Investigation Agency raided the PTI’s digital media wing, according to the ministry, referring to the arrest of the party’s foreign media coordinator, Ahmed Waqas Janjua, on Saturday.

Raoof Hasan was taken into custody during the raid. According to the ministry statement, PTI engages in anti-state propaganda. It further stated that a joint investigation team was being assembled.
