Imran Khan alleged Faiz Hameed will be made to testify against him
Imran Khan, founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has claimed that former ISI chief Faiz Hameed is being forced to testify against him as a state witness.
During a discussion with reporters at the Adiala Jail, Khan said that Hameed’s arrest was a pre-planned move to advance his case to a military court. “Every accusation made against me is baseless and hollow. All of this is part of a plan to get my case into military court.”
The former prime minister added Hameed’s involvement was only an attempt to put him under false pretences. “They’ll make Faiz Hameed a state witness against me,” he said.
Imran Khan on Saturday stated that Faiz Hameed’s detention did not scare him and he would never have requested a judicial commission if he was terrified.
He rejected charges made against him by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif that the PTI is responsible for the poor economy, citing the Economic Survey of Pakistan as evidence. He said a $19.5 billion deficit was left by the previous administration, which made the PTI government deal with the IMF a necessity.
