Imran Khan claims ‘establishment’ behind Gandapur’s disappearance
Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has accused the establishment of being the reason behind Ali Amin Gandapur disappearance, asserting that the identities of those responsible are widely known. Khan said that the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has kept his silence out of respect to the establishment.
In a casual conversation with reporters at Adiala Jail on Friday, Imran Khan compared the current situation in Pakistan to “Yahya Khan Part II.” He alleged that the establishment is compromising the integrity of the country’s institutions.
Furthermore, Khan highlighted a decline of public confidence in the police and judiciary, citing a case where a judge supposedly took three hours to receive instructions before ruling against Bushra Bibi.
Imran Khan welcomed Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s statement against extending the tenures of military and judicial officials, relieved that the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) leader does not support such extensions.
He also criticized Nawaz Sharif, accusing him of attacking the judiciary by allegedly pushing for extensions and specifically targeted Supreme Court Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa regarding this issue.
Imran Khan attributed Pakistan’s low level of foreign investment to the lack of rule of law while emphasizing the importance of overseas Pakistanis. Additionally, Khan suggested that true independence from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) would come when foreign investors will invest in Pakistan.
Imran Khan also criticized the current government, claiming that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif needs approval for every decision and might face a similar fate of missing person.
Khan expressed his frustration, criticizing the Supreme Court for not advancing the hearing in the Toshakhana case despite multiple requests. He compared this to the swift scheduling of cases by the Election Commission, accusing the Chief Election Commissioner of conspiring with certain judges to target PTI.
