The Foreign Office stated on Monday that the terror attack near Karachi airport that resulted in the deaths of two Chinese nationals would not be overlooked.

The incident occurred late Sunday night when a powerful explosion happened on a road adjacent to Jinnah International Airport, claiming the lives of three individuals and injuring at least 11 others, including a Chinese citizen.

Reports following the explosion, which was audible across various parts of the city, including Clifton, presented conflicting details. Officials debated whether it was an “IED (improvised explosive device) blast” or the result of a collision between a vehicle and an oil tanker.

Images taken at the scene depicted several burning cars. Authorities indicated that the Bomb Disposal Squad was investigating the cause of the explosion.

The Majeed Brigade, a faction of the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), issued a statement claiming responsibility for the attack.

Today, the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan confirmed the deaths of two of its citizens and reported that another individual was injured, along with “some local casualties.”

In its statement, the Foreign Office condemned the “heinous terrorist attack” near Karachi airport, which led to the deaths of two Chinese engineers and injuries to another.

“Pakistan’s security and law enforcement agencies will leave no stone unturned in capturing the attackers and their accomplices. This barbaric act will face consequences,” the statement read.

The Foreign Office expressed its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, both Chinese and Pakistani, and wished for a speedy recovery for those injured.

“This reprehensible act of terrorism targets not just Pakistan but also the enduring friendship between Pakistan and China. We are committed to bringing to justice those responsible for this cowardly attack, including the Majeed Brigade,” the Foreign Office added, referencing the outlawed group associated with the BLA.

The foreign ministry is maintaining close communication with the Chinese Embassy to ensure coordination and support.

“Pakistan and China share a close partnership, united by mutual respect and a shared future. Pakistan reaffirms its steadfast commitment to the safety and security of Chinese nationals, projects, and institutions in the country and will continue collaborating with our Chinese partners to combat terrorism,” the Foreign Office asserted.
