Karsaz accident suspects granted bail
Natasha Danish, suspect involved in the Karsaz traffic accident case, and her husband were granted bail by a sessions court in Karachi after the victim family’s attorney declared they had forgiven them and dismissed their objections.
Advocate Amir Mansoob Qureshi, Natasha’s attorney, claims that the suspects bail was granted for Rs. 100,000 and Rs. 50,000, respectively.
Barrister Aziz Ghouri, victim lawyer, said no diyat, or blood money was given to the family, instead the suspect was pardoned “in the name of Allah.”
He dismissed rumours that there had been a financial settlement between the two sides, adding that “the family have forgiven because those who forgive have the highest stature.”
Qureshi, the defence attorney, stated that he was “not aware” of any payments made to the victims’ family. He further said that because the family had granted a pardon, the situation is now closed.
The judges approved Natasha bail in the accident case; however, she would still remain under custody until the narcotics case will be resolved.
On August 19, Natasha’s high-speed vehicle lost control and collided with pedestrians on Karsaz Road. Following the incident Natasha was taken into police custody.
A father and his daughter were killed in the accident, and four other individuals were injured.
Witnesses reported that Natasha drove rashly, appearing out of control. After hitting the motorcyclists, she attempted to flee the scene but ended up crashing into another vehicle.
Ghulam Nabi Memon, the Inspector General of Sindh Police (IGP), had formed a special investigative team to investigate the case.
On August 28 IG Sindh told media that Natasha was driving while under the influence of the drug methamphetamine, often known as crystal meth. The police then filed a separate FIR against Natasha under Section 11.
The hearing for Narcotics case is scheduled on Monday.
