KP Minister resigns over corruption, bad governance
Shakeel Ahmad Khan, the Minister for Works and Communication in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resigned from his position while accusing the PTI-backed provincial government of bad governance and corruption.
Shakeel said he submitted his resignation letter to Ali Amin Gandapur, the chief minister of KP. This occurred after PTI founder Iman Khan, who is currently detained in Adiala Jail, conveyed a strong message to the KP administration, warning that all party members will face severe consequences for corruption and poor governance in their respective ministries.
Following Khan’s orders, the PTI established a three-person committee to watch over corruption and the KP administration. Khan decided to form this committee after provincial minister Shakeel criticized corruption happening in several KP departments.
According to sources, Shakeel said that the corruption and poor leadership prevented him from carrying out his responsibilities effectively. In addition, he also claimed the interference of CM Gandapur in his department, saying CM followed orders from outside.
However, KP CM Gandapur emphasized that Shakeel’s formal resignation has not yet been received. “A summary aiming to de-notify the minister has been sent to the governor based on the committee’s recommendation.”
