Pakistan-Bangladesh second Test day one cancelled
On Friday, the opening day of the final and second Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh at Rawalpindi Stadium was cancelled due to heavy rain.
The toss was delayed by overnight downpours, and further monsoon rains led the umpires to call off the match for the day.
“The first day’s play has been called off due to persistent rain and wet outfield,” Pakistan Cricket Board said.
The Pakistan Cricket Board announced that a wet outfield and continuous rain made it impossible to play leading the match to be cancelled.
Both teams remained in their hotels and umpires were set to examine the field after the rain stopped. The Met Office also forecast continuous monsoon rain throughout the day.
The weather disruption was considered a setback for Pakistan, who is desperate to level the series after Bangladesh’s victory in the first Test.
Bangladesh secured their first Test victory against Pakistan, winning by 10 wickets.
Shaheen Shah Afridi was left out of the 12-member squad of the second-test series due to his weak performance.
Pakistan aims to bounce back in the second Test and level the series meanwhile, Bangladesh is looking to achieve a historic win against Pakistan.
