Pakistan, Malaysia reaffirm resolve to enhance bilateral cooperation
On Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Islamabad, where they vow to strengthen bilateral ties between Pakistan and Malaysia, reported by Radio Pakistan.
Anwar Ibrahim arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday night for a three-day official visit at the invitation of Shehbaz Sharif.
The meeting covered a wide range of issues, including matters of bilateral, regional, and international significance, also discussing ways to enhance cooperation in various sectors to achieve practical results.
Anwar Ibrahim acknowledged Pakistan’s active involvement with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as a Sectoral Dialogue Partner, while Shehbaz Sharif congratulated him on Malaysia’s upcoming chairmanship of ASEAN in 2025.
Pakistan to play a more prominent role in the Southeast Asia region, the Malaysian Prime Minister stated, further expressed support for closer engagement between Pakistan and ASEAN.
Both leaders emphasized the importance of maintaining open dialogue, facilitating high-level exchanges and expressed their strong commitment to strengthen the long-standing relationship between Pakistan and Malaysia. They also emphasized the importance of the Joint Ministerial Commission and bilateral consultations to enhance collaboration moving forward.
Before their meeting, PM Shehbaz Sharif said he has hopes that this meaningful discussion would further solidify their ties.
Taking to X he highlighted that this visit reflects their shared dedication to fostering peace, prosperity, and development in the region.
