PCB: Shaheen Afridi will not play 2nd test against Bangladesh
Shaheen Shah Afridi, a left-arm fast bowler, has been outed from the Pakistani squad as PCB announces the team for the second test against Bangladesh. The second Test match against Bangladesh is scheduled to begin from August 30.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed the 12-member team in a post on X which would make up the Playing XI for the crucial second and final Test against Bangladesh.
In addition to Shaheen, PCB has also dismissed batsmen Kamran Ghulam and Muhammad Hurraira, as well as wicketkeeper Sarfaraz Ahmed. Shaheen Afridi’s performance in the opening Test was unremarkable as he just took two wickets in the opening session.
Pakistan is looking forward to winning the second test after their defeat to Bangladesh in the first Test of the two-match series,
Following the defeat against Bangladesh, several strategies were questioned, including attacking at full speed and failing to score runs in the second innings.
After being allowed to bat first, Pakistan declared their first innings at 448/6 in the last moments of the second day. However, Bangladesh responded with a total of 565, thanks to Mushfiqur Rahim’s impressive 191-run innings, but they fell apart during the third session on the fourth day.
It was perceived that the first Test would end in a draw, but on the last day, Pakistan’s batting lineup struggled against Bangladesh’s spinners and managed to score only 146, giving Bangladesh a pitiful goal of just 30 runs to chase. The Bangladesh openers skilfully chased the target and led their team to a historic win.
