PTI to hold power show on August 22

Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif on Sunday disclosed that Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), had “decided” to hold a public rally in Islamabad on August 22.
In a press conference, Saif assured the party will make an effort to uphold the law. “We assure that there will be no law-and-order issue,” he said.

PTI had been fighting months-long battle to host a public rally in the country capital however, the officials had repeatedly refused to grant permission due to security concerns.

In June, PTI filed a petition in Islamabad High Court to seek permission for holding a public rally. During hearing Justice Babar Sattar of the Islamabad High Court instructed PTI and the city’s administration to resolve the matter amicably. Following this, the DC granted permission to the PTI. However, Islamabad Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa later suspended the NOC citing security concerns.

The party then registered an appeal in IHC to hold individuals accountable for the NOC’s suspension which court later dismissed. Following this, the party once again granted permission from the district authority to hold a public gathering in the federal capital on August 13th.
